Redeemed to Believe: A Confession of Hope and Truth
At the heart of our Statement of Faith is the unwavering belief in God's redemptive plan for all humanity. We affirm that every person—regardless of their past, present circumstances, life choices, struggles, or identity—is deeply loved by God and invited into a journey of restoration through Jesus Christ. Our faith is not built on judgment but on grace, not on exclusion but on invitation. We stand firmly on the truth that the gospel is good news for all people, offering hope, transformation, and reconciliation to God, self, and community. This statement outlines the core convictions that shape our belief, our witness, and our mission in the world.
Our Statement of Faith
Our Theology and Doctrinal Foundations:
At GREMC, we base all our affairs, decisions, and practices on the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and the foundational doctrines laid by His first apostles.
We are committed to living out the gospel with integrity, love, and humility—guided by Scripture, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and shaped by the example of the early church.
1. The Scriptures
We believe that the Holy Bible, comprising the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority for faith and conduct, and all our teachings and actions are to align with its truths, as taught by Christ and His apostles. (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; John 17:17; Acts 2:42)
2. The Triune God
We believe in one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in power and glory. This triune God is the Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, and Sovereign over all things. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1–14; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

3. God the Father
We believe in God the Father, the source of all life and love, who rules over His creation with justice, mercy, and holiness. He sent His Son to redeem humanity and desires all people to come to the knowledge of the truth.(John 3:16; Isaiah 64:8; Ephesians 1:3–6; 1 Timothy 2:3–4)
4. Jesus Christ, the Son of God
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became fully man without ceasing to be fully God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, taught with authority, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory. He is the Head of the Church, and our perfect example and Teacher.(John 1:14; Matthew 1:18–25; Colossians 1:15–20; Acts 1:11; Hebrews 1:1–3)
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates all who believe, indwells and empowers believers for holy living and faithful service. He grants spiritual gifts to equip the Church to carry out Christ’s mission on earth.(John 14:16–17; John 16:7–14; Romans 8:9–11; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11)

6. Humanity and Sin
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God, but through disobedience, all have sinned and are under the judgment of God. Only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ can anyone be reconciled to God. (Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1–3)
7. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that salvation is the free gift of God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by works, but results in a transformed life, led by the Holy Spirit and grounded in obedience to the teachings of Jesus and His apostles. (Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5–7; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9–10)
8. The Church
We believe that the true Church comprises all born-again believers who are united in Christ and committed to the apostles’ doctrine, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. The local church is an autonomous body under the Lordship of Christ, practicing baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and equipping believers for service and mission. (Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 4:11–16)

9. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe that baptism by immersion is a public testimony of a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a sacred act of remembrance and communion, instituted by Christ and practiced by the early church. (Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 8:36–38; Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)
10. Christian Living
We believe that every believer is called to live a life of holiness, truth, and compassion, reflecting the character of Christ. We are to love our neighbors, walk humbly, pursue justice, and stand firm against the spiritual forces of evil. (Romans 12:1–2; Galatians 5:22–25; Matthew 5–7; 1 Peter 1:13–16)
11. Evangelism and Mission
We believe in the Great Commission given by Jesus to His apostles: to preach the gospel, make disciples, baptize, and teach obedience to all that Christ commanded. This remains the mission of the Church today. (Matthew 28:18–20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2 Timothy 4:2)
12. The Return of Christ and Final Judgment
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ. He will judge the living and the dead. The righteous, through faith in Christ, will receive eternal life; the unrepentant will face eternal separation from God. (John 14:1–3; Revelation 20:11–15; 2 Thessalonians 1:7–10; Matthew 25:31–46)
13. Eternal Life and the Kingdom of God We believe that those who have been redeemed will live forever in the presence of God in a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. We long for the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God and work toward it with hope and perseverance. (Revelation 21:1–4; 2 Peter 3:13; Romans 8:18–25)
We hold to the essential teachings of Christ that strengthen, inspire, and bring healing to individuals and communities.
Wholehearted Love for God and Neighbor
Repentance and New Birth
Hope and Redemption for All
We believe that the greatest commandment, as taught by Jesus, is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind—and to love our neighbor as ourselves. This love is the foundation of the Christian life. It calls us beyond religious performance into a living, relational faith that is expressed through compassion, service, and justice.
Scripture:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
— Matthew 22:37–39
We believe in the power of personal transformation—a change that begins with honest self-reflection and the courage to turn away from harmful patterns. This journey leads to the renewal of purpose, identity, and direction. No one is defined solely by their past; each person has the potential to grow, heal, and begin again with clarity and intention.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
— Matthew 4:17
“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
— John 3:3
We believe that no one is beyond the possibility of healing and renewal. No matter their struggles or past, every person deserves a chance to be restored, strengthened, and seen. Even in the darkest moments, there is always a path toward new beginnings, fresh purpose, and a fuller life, starting right where you are.

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
— John 10:10
“Come to me, all weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
